The GEYSERVILLE CHRISTIAN CHURCH (Disciples of Christ) has been in the Geyserville community since 1884.

We believe our purpose is to follow the Gospel challenge of Jesus, and offer love and support to all persons who make the Geyserville area their home.  We agree with the Campbells, who were among the founders of this denomination, on the need for balance between Word and Sacrament, and we share communion each week.  We believe that the name Christian is sufficient to describe who and what we are.  We believe that all have the right to interpret the Scriptures according to their relationship with the divine being—God.

SUNDAY WORSHIP, 10:30 am

CHURCH SCHOOL
offers classes from pre-school through fifth grade.  Our curriculum, WORD AMONG US, is worship-centered and lectionary-based.  Children begin Church School in their class rooms and join the Worship Service for Communion.  Through stories, songs, games, and crafts our church school teachers help children to integrate their faith into their everyday lives.  Our children participate in Summer Camps and Community Service Projects.                 top of page

SUNDAY WORSHIP is a traditional, yet relaxed, service according to the  tradition of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  Attire is casual and children are welcome.  A typical Sunday consists of singing, prayers which include our sharing of "Joys and Concerns and Moments of Faith," scripture reading and sermon, and The Lord's Supper.  All are welcome in our services, and, regardless of belief-system, all are welcome to share communion with us at the Lord’s Table.

SECOND SUNDAY SONG, SOUP, AND SANDWICH is a regular occurrence on the second Sunday of every month.  On this day our Sunday Worship is made up of songs.  The sermon is generally a short message and a song. All hymns sung are by congregational choice--old favorites and new.  If you like to sing, or like being around singing, then this could be the service for you.  After the service, we share food and fellowship at a mini-potluck.  All are welcome whether you bring food or not!  Usually the dynamic of the loaves and fishes is such that we seem to have more than we bring.

BIBLE STUDY:  we meet Sunday morning prior to the service to discuss the Bible and discover what it has to say to us.  The application is critical and personal.  The texts are studied as insights into culture and history as well as their importance as a word God has for us as persons living in our own time and place.    top of page

BAPTISM:  we believe in "adult baptism," and "infant dedication."  Occasional introductory classes are held for  those interested in making a commitment to membership  in this church.  However, worshiping with us does not require membership or baptism.

WEDDINGS:  these we consider a service to the Geyserville community, whether they are performed in the church or not.

FUNERALS:  we mourn with the grief of those who lose loved ones, and we offer services of grief counseling as well as the regular services of parting.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH: The Geyserville Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) supports and is supported by its community.  We participate in local civic events such as May Day and Fall Colors celebrations.  We offer a Baccalaureate Service for Seniors graduating from Geyserville High School.  We act as a local Service Center for the Salvation Army and give vouchers to those in need of food, clothes, and housing as well as other emergency needs.  We supply a Christmas food basket complete with gifts for each member of the receiving family that is specific to Geyserville.  In addition, there has been a fund established in an account separate from the church’s funds that is financed by the church as well as generous gifts from the Geyserville chapter of the International Order of Odd Fellows, the Geyserville Kiwanis Club, the Geyserville Chamber of Commerce, the Geyserville Grange, as well as many private donations.  This is the “Pastor’s Discretionary Fund.”  Through this fund we serve those in need in the Geyserville Community.  We have paid for the repair of cars, paid utility bills, gotten homeless families into housing, and helped many travelers to their destinations.              top of page

A PERMANENT MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT FUND of this congregation makes it possible to provide partial scholarships to children and youth (4th-12th grade) to Summer Camp and Conference sessions at the Community of the Great Commission.  "C.G.C.," located in the Sierra east of Auburn, belongs to all the congregations of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Northern California-Nevada.

FOUR SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded each year for college-bound Geyserville High School Seniors.  These are through the generosity of the late Tom and Ida Addleman and L.C. (Smitty) and Adeline Smith, and the Dave Lampson Award to the Valedictorian and Salutatorian.  Seniors should see their counselors to apply.

OUR BUILDING is available for group activities.  We ask a donation commensurate with the activity and the number of people attending.  Please call for more information.  top of page
